The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in North Sumatra is currently in Samosir, with seven cases per 100,000 population per week as of Wednesday, April 6, 2022. This figure is 1.3 cases higher than the second-highest region.
The number of COVID-19 infections in Samosir is higher than last week because no cases per 100,000 population per week were reported previously.
Pematangsiantar is in second place, recording five weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. This week's confirmed COVID-19 cases are higher than last week, when no cases were reported.
Rounding out the top five are Medan, Simalungun, and Tanjung Balai cities, recording four, two, and 1.65 weekly confirmed cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Dairi, Serdang Bedagai, Deli Serdang, and Toba Samosir. These areas recorded an average increase of over 1.08 cases per 100,000 population.
The good news from this province is that eight regencies/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Furthermore, 77 regencies/cities in Indonesia currently report no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
