With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 143 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Saturday, October 15, 2022, shows a national average of 134.92 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of people tested per week, are Bandung Barat (978 people), Malang (962 people), Indramayu (947 people), Batam City (889 people), and Karawang (885 people).
Bandung Barat ranks first, with 978 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 4.4 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Malang, with 962 people tested per week in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 4.47 percent, also down from the previous week.
Following are Indramayu with 947 people tested per week, Batam City with 889 people, and Karawang with 885 people.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 196 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 148 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some areas with the highest number of people tested per week include Batam City, Pekanbaru City, and Samarinda City, with 889, 794, and 737 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
