The top five, starting from the highest, are Jayapura, West Bandung, Kediri City, Palu City, and Gunungkidul, with weekly specimen numbers of 993, 977, 948, 907, and 907, respectively.
Jayapura ranks first. With a population of 129,450, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 993 per week. The latest positive rate is 4.49 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is West Bandung. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined was 977 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 7.05 percent, also down from the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Kediri City was 948 per week, Palu City recorded 907 specimens per week, and Gunungkidul also recorded 907 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 107 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 203 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Jayapura, Palu City, and Tanah Bumbu, with 993, 907, and 868 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
