To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 108 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, March 3, 2023, shows the national average examination is 98.67 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Garut, Karawang, Kupang City, Cirebon City, and Yogyakarta City, with weekly specimen numbers of 987, 959, 930, 876, and 849 specimens respectively.
Garut ranks first. The number of specimens examined there is recorded at 987 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.07 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Karawang. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 959 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.42 percent, also down compared to the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Kupang City is recorded at 930 per week; in Cirebon City, with a population of 322,250, the number of specimens examined is 876 per week; and in Yogyakarta City, the number of specimens examined is 849 per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 69 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 61 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week's examination.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Kupang City, Badung, and Kutai Kartanegara, with 930, 769, and 758 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
