Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 131 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, October 8, 2022, shows a national average of 137.79 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Cilegon City, Kebumen, Sukabumi, Mataram City, and Kediri, with weekly specimen numbers of 999, 986, 985, 980, and 970, respectively.
Cilegon City ranks first. With a population of 452,910, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 999 per week. The latest positive rate is 2.06 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Kebumen. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined was 986 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 18.42 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Sukabumi recorded 985 specimens per week; Mataram City, with a population of 527,540, recorded 980 specimens per week; and Kediri recorded 970 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 110 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported daily specimen examination numbers higher than before. Meanwhile, 178 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Mataram City, Gianyar, and Manado City, with 980, 902, and 883 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
