Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 174 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, August 6, 2022, shows a national average of 203.1 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Jepara, Padang City, Tarakan City, Kudus, and Blora, with 985, 981, 964, 962, and 962 people tested per week, respectively.
Jepara ranks first, with 985 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 1.12 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Padang City, with a population of 997,360. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 981 people were tested per week. The positive rate is 3.98 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Tarakan City recorded 964 tests per week, Kudus 962, and Blora 962.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a national Covid data recapitulation, 274 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 102 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested per week include Padang City, Tarakan City, and Palangkaraya City, with 981, 964, and 946 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
