The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 3.61 million cases by Saturday, June 11, 2022. According to GISAID data, the United Kingdom recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with 1.19 million. This represents 33.06 percent of the total global Omicron cases.
Next is the United States, which recorded a 4.54 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 0.84 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.
Following this is Denmark with 236,690 Omicron cases (up 0.92%), France with 132,810 cases (up 1.85% compared to the previous week), and Canada with 114,000 cases (up 2.31%).
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 11,583, a 0.8 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its first detection, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
