Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 114 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, January 28, 2023, shows a national average of 101.35 specimens examined per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Cirebon City (958 specimens), Karawang (923 specimens), Garut (859 specimens), Simalungun (829 specimens), and Mimika (817 specimens).
Cirebon City ranks first. With a population of 322,250, it recorded 958 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 0.75 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Karawang. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 923 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 1.5 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following this, Garut recorded 859 specimens examined per week, Simalungun 829 specimens per week, and Mimika 817 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact across various regions, the national Covid-19 data recapitulation shows that 37 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 55 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of specimens examined include Simalungun (829 specimens), Mimika (817 specimens), and Deli Serdang (779 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
