Based on national Covid-19 data, 154 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of September 18, 2022, shows a national average of 0.5 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, in descending order, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with 5.26, 5.11, 4.49, 3.71, and 3.56 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.26 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.24 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.11 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 9.64 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 4.49 tests per 1,000 people per week. West Jakarta recorded 3.71 tests per 1,000 people per week, and East Jakarta recorded 3.56 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, national Covid-19 data shows 143 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily test numbers than the previous week. Conversely, 145 regencies/cities recorded lower test numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.49 tests per 1,000 people per week), Mimika (3.05), and Badung (2.9).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
