COVID-19 Cases Increase by 860 (Sunday, December 18)

On December 18, 2022, there was an increase of 860 confirmed Covid-19 cases. With this addition, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has reached 6,709,597.

A total of 6,519,504 patients have recovered, and 160,398 have died.

The government urges the public to actively implement health protocols due to the increasing spread of the Omicron variant in Indonesia. This variant is feared to cause a wider and more difficult-to-control spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia, despite the positive rate having decreased in most regions earlier this year.

Previously, during the first wave of Covid-19 last year, the highest daily increase in cases was recorded on July 15, 2021, at 56,757 cases. With the emergence of the Omicron variant, this record was broken twice in February, with 57,049 cases on February 15th and 64,718 cases on February 16th.
