The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 3.75 million cases by Monday, October 24, 2022. Saudi Arabia ranks first, with a weekly increase in Omicron cases growing by 21.7 percent. GISAID recorded 129 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 4.88 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is the Czech Republic, which recorded a 3.02 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily Omicron cases in the country increased by 0.29 percent compared to the previous day.
Following this, Indonesia reported 24,644 new Omicron cases (a 1.91% increase), Denmark saw a 1.75 percent increase to 308,500 cases compared to the previous week, and Italy saw a 1.61 percent increase to 60,088 cases compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 24,644, a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
