With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 100 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Thursday, June 30, 2022, shows the national average of examinations recorded at 695.78 people per week.
The top five, starting from the largest number of people examined in the last week per week, are South Jakarta (21,900 people), East Jakarta (16,930 people), West Jakarta (14,790 people), Surabaya (12,430 people), and Bekasi (10,130 people).
South Jakarta is ranked first. With a population of 2.31 billion people, the number of people examined in the last week here was recorded at 21,900 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.25 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is East Jakarta. The population in this region is recorded at 2.95 billion people. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people examined in the last week was 16,930 people per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 8.17 percent, or higher than the previous week's percentage.
Then, for Covid-19 tests in the last week in West Jakarta, 14,790 people per week were recorded; in Surabaya, with a population of 2.93 billion people, Covid-19 tests in the last week were recorded at 12,430 people per week; and examinations totaled 10,130 people per week in Bekasi.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 200 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report the number of people examined daily in the last week with higher figures than before. Meanwhile, 174 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people examined in the last week compared to the previous week's examinations.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people examined in the last week include Badung, Palembang, and Medan, with the number of people examined in the last week being 4,169, 3,691, and 3,626 people, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to participate in reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
