The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that 27.2% of respondents admitted to not having received the Covid-19 vaccine. Based on the BPS survey on reasons for not receiving the vaccine, the majority, or 32.5% of respondents, cited technical issues such as health problems, pregnancy, and difficult access to vaccination sites.
Besides technical issues, four other reasons were given by respondents. First, 26.3% stated they hadn't been vaccinated because they were still looking for vaccination sites with available quotas.
Furthermore, 15.8% of respondents were hesitant to receive the Covid-19 vaccine due to concerns about side effects. Similarly, 4.2% questioned the vaccine's effectiveness. However, 21.2% of respondents said they had not been vaccinated because they were waiting for their scheduled appointment.
Meanwhile, the majority of those surveyed had received the Covid-19 vaccine. Respondents were motivated by personal awareness for self-protection against the coronavirus. Workplace or government mandates and recommendations from health professionals also motivated people to receive the vaccine.
The BPS surveyed 212,762 respondents from July 13-20, 2021. Of these, 58,349 respondents had not received the Covid-19 vaccine. The BPS survey used a non-probability sampling design, distributed through a chain referral method.
