The top five, starting from the highest, are Pangkal Pinang City, Jayapura City, Tasikmalaya City, Blora, and Kediri City, with weekly specimen numbers of 984, 983, 972, 963, and 928 respectively.
Pangkal Pinang City ranks first. With a population of 215,250, the number of specimens examined is 984 per week. The latest positive rate is 2.68 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Jayapura City. The population is 129,450. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 983 specimens are examined per week. The positive rate is 0.69 percent, also down from the previous week.
Then, Tasikmalaya City, with a population of 685,850, recorded 972 specimens examined per week; Blora, with a population of 866,140, recorded 963 specimens per week; and Kediri City recorded 928 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 191 regencies/cities in Indonesia are actively reporting a higher number of daily specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 126 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Pangkal Pinang City, Jayapura City, and Sikka, with 984, 983, and 902 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
