Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 141 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations, exceeding the national average. Data as of Monday, October 31, 2022, shows a national average of 148.6 specimens examined per week.
The top five, ranked from highest to lowest number of specimens examined per week, are Lahat (999 specimens), Banjarmasin City (984 specimens), Pasuruan (949 specimens), Jayapura City (948 specimens), and Padang City (940 specimens).
Lahat ranks first. With a population of 419,860, 999 specimens were examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.48 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Banjarmasin City. With a population of 719,580, 984 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 6.99 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Pasuruan recorded 949 specimens per week, Jayapura City 948 specimens per week, and Padang City 940 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data recapitulation, 145 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 136 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Lahat, Banjarmasin City, and Jayapura City, with 999, 984, and 948 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
