The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded that the stock of COVID-19 vaccines in Indonesia reached 15,384,821 doses as of Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 5:00 PM. DKI Jakarta has the largest stock of COVID-19 vaccines, with 3.3 million doses.
Next, East Java has a stock of 2.1 million doses. West Java and Central Java each have 2 million and 1.7 million doses, respectively.
Bali follows with 717,000 doses. Banten and Riau Islands each have 650,000 and 385,000 doses, respectively.
Meanwhile, Maluku has the lowest stock among Indonesia's 34 provinces, with only 41,000 doses.
In the last two days, a number of COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the country. Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi stated that 450,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were received from the Dutch government through bilateral cooperation. The government also purchased 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, 567,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the government is still trying to obtain additional supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine to reach a total of 430 million doses. This amount, he said, will be used to vaccinate more than 200 million people by the end of this year, with an estimated two doses per person.
A total of 56,322,284 Indonesians have received the first dose of the vaccine. Of that number, 30,590,045 people have also received the second dose.
Although vaccination is underway, the public is urged to remain disciplined in implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. This is important to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
