The top five, starting from the highest, are Tarakan City, Pasuruan, Batu Bara, Serang City, and Jember, with weekly specimen numbers of 988, 981, 976, 942, and 901, respectively.
Tarakan City ranks first. With a population of 267,270, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 988 per week. The latest positive rate is 0 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Pasuruan. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined totaled 981 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.46 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Batu Bara is recorded at 976 per week; Serang City, with a population of 718,430, recorded 942 specimens per week; and Jember recorded 901 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 137 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 174 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Tarakan City, Batu Bara, and Banjarbaru City, with 988, 976, and 849 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
