Based on national Covid-19 data, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of August 21, 2022, shows a national average of 0.69 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, West Jakarta, and Badung, with 7.99, 7.28, 5.05, 4.77, and 4.73 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 7.99 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positivity rate is 13.33 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 7.28 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positivity rate is 14.63 percent, also down from the previous week.
Furthermore, West Jakarta recorded 4.77 tests per 1,000 people per week, while Badung recorded 4.73 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 150 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 163 other regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (4.73 tests per 1,000 people per week), Balikpapan (4.33), and Mimika (3.61).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
