Based on data from Monday, July 12, 2021, at 08:32 WIB, Indonesia had detected 2,527,203 cases of Covid-19. 376,015 cases, or 14.9%, were active cases requiring hospitalization or self-isolation. Indonesia remained in sixth place globally, the same as the previous week.
Jakarta was the province with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases, adding 13,133 new cases. West Java and Central Java followed with 6,704 and 2,575 cases respectively, up to July 11, 2021.
The surge in Covid-19 cases after the Eid al-Fitr holiday boosted the overall case count in Indonesia. The Ministry of Health recorded an additional 36,197 new cases and 1,007 deaths in a single day. Meanwhile, 32,615 cases recovered during the same period.
The United States still holds the top position with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases globally, with 34.7 million cases, of which 4,865,805 cases, or 14%, are active. This proportion decreased from the previous week, which was 14.1%.
The government continues to urge the public to practice social distancing, wear masks, and wash their hands with soap and running water. Everyone is also encouraged to reduce mobility and avoid crowds to curb the spread of Covid-19.
