Based on national Covid-19 data, 144 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Tuesday, August 2, 2022, shows a national average of 0.89 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with 10.42, 9.83, 7.23, 6.77, and 6.75 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 10.42 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 17.16 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 9.83 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 16.28 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in South Tangerang recorded 7.23 tests per 1,000 people per week. West Jakarta recorded 6.77 tests per 1,000 people per week, and East Jakarta recorded 6.75 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 21 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 191 other regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Badung, Balikpapan, and Mimika, with 6.03, 5.48, and 4.9 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
