Omicron cases in Niger Republic increased by 51.9% in one week (Friday, April 28, 2023)

The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 7.62 million cases by Friday, April 28, 2023. According to GISAID data, the Republic of Niger recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with 120 new cases. The total number of Omicron cases in Niger currently represents 0 percent of the global total.

Oman reported a 16.36 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 16.36 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.

Ukraine saw a 10.78 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 2,188 cases compared to the previous week. Romania saw a 4.51 percent increase, reaching 10,673 cases compared to the previous week, and Norway reported 34,278 Omicron cases (a 3.57% increase).

In Indonesia, as of yesterday, there were 36,058 Omicron cases, a 0.95 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
