To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, 167 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting COVID-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Thursday, April 14, 2022, shows a national average of 2.21 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are Mimika (14.11 people), Badung (13.61 people), South Jakarta (11.78 people), Central Jakarta (11.62 people), and Balikpapan (11.29 people).
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the number of people tested there is 14.11 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.45 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Badung. The population of this region is 727,950. In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 13.61 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.92 percent, also down from the previous week.
Furthermore, the number of people tested in South Jakarta is 11.78 per 1,000 people per week, in Central Jakarta 11.62 per 1,000 people per week, and in Balikpapan 11.29 per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national COVID-19 data, 233 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 142 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Mimika, Badung, and Balikpapan, with 14.11, 13.61, and 11.29 people tested, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
