The top five, starting from the highest weekly percentage of people tested, are Balikpapan City (468.94%), Tarakan City (303.76%), Surakarta City (281.27%), Semarang City (259.37%), and Manokwari City (254.86%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, its weekly testing percentage is recorded at 468.94 percent. The latest positive rate is 4.83 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Tarakan City. The population of this region is recorded at 267,270. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 303.76 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.87 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Surakarta City recorded 281.27 percent testing, Semarang City 259.37 percent, and Manokwari City 254.86 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 88 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 290 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Tarakan City, and Manokwari City, with weekly testing percentages of 468.94 percent, 303.76 percent, and 254.86 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
