Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, October 27, 2022, shows a national average of 0.43 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, South Jakarta City, Central Jakarta City, West Jakarta City, and East Jakarta City, with respective figures of 4.75, 4.5, 4.44, 3.16, and 3.08 tests per 1,000 people per week.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested there is 4.75 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.72 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is South Jakarta City. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 4.5 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 11.49 percent, also higher than the previous week's percentage.
Following this, there were 4.44 tests per 1,000 people per week in Central Jakarta City, 3.16 in West Jakarta City, and 3.08 in East Jakarta City.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 130 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 180 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.75, 2.54, and 2.25 tests per 1,000 people per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
