Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 76 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of Monday, September 19, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 17.48 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Sukabumi City, Mimika, Surakarta City, and Semarang City, with percentages of 451.86 percent, 303.95 percent, 302.23 percent, 240.73 percent, and 222.84 percent, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly testing percentage there was recorded at 451.86 percent. The latest positive rate is 4.16 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Sukabumi City. The population in this region is recorded at 331,750. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage was 303.95 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 1.6 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Mimika recorded 302.23 percent testing, Surakarta City recorded 240.73 percent testing, and Semarang City recorded 222.84 percent testing.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 171 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 180 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week's testing.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Mimika, and Jayapura City, with weekly testing percentages of 451.86 percent, 302.23 percent, and 175.97 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
