To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, 149 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect testing exceeding the national average. Data from the week of June 19th, 2022, shows a national average of 6.39 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the total number of people tested in each region, then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five regions with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages are: Simalungun (89.89%), Pangandaran (82.69%), Padang Lawas Utara (82.13%), Mandailing Natal (81%), and Banggai Kepulauan (68.92%).
Simalungun ranks first. With a population of 877,710, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 89.89 percent. The latest positive rate is 0 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Pangandaran. With a population of 407,350, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 82.69 percent. The positive rate is also 0 percent, lower than the previous week.
Padang Lawas Utara shows a suspect testing percentage of 82.13 percent. Mandailing Natal, with a population of 460,360, recorded 81 percent, while Banggai Kepulauan recorded 68.92 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national COVID-19 data shows 178 regencies/cities actively reporting higher weekly suspect testing percentages than the previous week. Conversely, 156 regencies/cities reported lower percentages.
Outside of Java, regions with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages include Simalungun (89.89%), Padang Lawas Utara (82.13%), and Mandailing Natal (81%).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
