To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 125 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, January 10, 2023, shows the national average examination is recorded at 116.75 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Cimahi, Cirebon, Kediri, Deli Serdang, and Malang cities, with specimen numbers per week of 998, 946, 904, 872, and 859 respectively.
Cimahi City is ranked first. With a population of 613,240, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 998 per week. The latest positive rate is 4.19 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Cirebon. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 946 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.59 percent, also down compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, 904 specimens per week were examined in Kediri, 872 in Deli Serdang, and 859 in Malang City.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 126 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting daily specimen examination numbers higher than before. Meanwhile, 117 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Deli Serdang, Palangkaraya City, and Banjarmasin City, with 872, 850, and 837 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
