With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 149 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, September 14, 2022, shows the national average examination is 152.91 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Pasuruan (945 specimens), Gianyar (918 specimens), Banyuwangi (912 specimens), Demak (892 specimens), and Wonosobo (867 specimens).
Pasuruan ranks first, with 945 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 4.33 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Gianyar, with a population of 528,070. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 918 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 3.94 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Banyuwangi recorded 912 specimens examined per week; Demak, 892 specimens; and Wonosobo, 867 specimens.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a national Covid data recapitulation, 156 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 154 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Gianyar, Manokwari, and Ambon City, with 918, 863, and 832 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
