To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, 154 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, shows a national average of 147.76 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Samarinda City, Batam City, Pasuruan, Cianjur, and Bengkulu Utara, with 994, 963, 955, 933, and 931 tests per week, respectively.
Samarinda City ranks first. With a population of 866,880, the number of people tested in the last week was 994 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.4 percent, lower than the previous week's percentage.
Next is Batam City. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 963 per week. The positive rate in this region is 1.97 percent, also lower than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Pasuruan recorded 955 tests per week, Cianjur recorded 933 tests per week, and Bengkulu Utara recorded 931 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on a national Covid data recapitulation, 194 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 168 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests in the last week compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of tests per week include Samarinda City, Batam City, and Bengkulu Utara, with 994, 963, and 931 tests per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
