In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are the United States, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, and Brazil. The total deaths in these five countries as of Wednesday, February 15, 2023, were 1,752, with a weekly growth rate above -50.11 percent.
The United States recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in the Americas, with weekly growth reaching 6.96 percent. Worldometer recorded 1,230 deaths in the country, a 12.08 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Chile follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in the country slowed by 0.98 percent. The number of deaths reported was 101. Daily statistics show a 1.94% decrease compared to the previous day's 103 deaths.
Next, deaths in Guatemala decreased by 35.71%, deaths in Mexico decreased by 38.08%, and deaths in Brazil decreased by 50.11%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days occurred in the United States, with 1,230 deaths. Death reports in the country increased by 6.96% compared to the previous week. Following this, Brazil reported the second highest number of deaths with 229 (down 50.11%), Mexico with 174 deaths (down 38.08%), Chile with 101 deaths (down 0.98%), and Peru with 64 deaths (down 81.29%).
Total deaths in the Americas over the past seven days were recorded at 1,816. This accounts for 37.97 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 4,783. The number of deaths in the Americas decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,362 deaths.
