As of July 2022, 81.9% of Indonesia's population had received the Covid-19 vaccine, encompassing the first, second, and third (booster) doses. This percentage increased from 69.9% in December 2021.
This vaccination increase is based on a serological survey report from the Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK) and the Covid-19 pandemic team of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI).
Specifically, in December 2021, the proportion of unvaccinated individuals was 30.1%. 19.3% had received the first dose, 50.1% had received two doses, and only 0.5% had received a booster dose.
By July 2022, the proportion of unvaccinated individuals decreased to 18.1%. The percentage of those who had received only the first dose fell to 11.6% as they had subsequently received their second dose. The percentage of those with two doses increased to 47.7%, and those with a booster dose rose to 22.6%.
According to the July 2022 serological survey, this vaccination increase led to a rise in the proportion of the population with SARS-CoV-2 antibodies (the cause of Covid-19) from 87.8% in December 2021 to 98.5% in July 2022.
"This vaccination increase will certainly trigger a higher proportion of the population with Covid-19 antibodies, as well as increase antibody levels themselves," said FKM UI researcher Iwan Ariawan during the Third National Serology Survey Press Conference on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
