Based on national Covid-19 data, 150 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Monday, October 24, 2022, shows a national average of 0.43 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with 4.52, 4.34, 3.78, 3.22, and 3.19 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.52 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.81 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.34 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 10 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 3.78 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta, 3.22; and East Jakarta, 3.19.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, national Covid-19 data shows that 130 regencies/cities actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Meanwhile, 170 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.78 tests per 1,000 people per week), Mimika (2.53), and Badung (2.41).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
