Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 147 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data from the week of August 28, 2022, shows a national average of 166.34 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Tarakan City, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, Tanjung Pinang City, Ternate City, and Bandung Barat Regency, with 980, 955, 920, 919, and 916 specimens per week, respectively.
Tarakan City ranks first. With a population of 267,270, the number of specimens examined is 980 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.1 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. With a population of 238,560, 955 specimens were examined per week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 0.26 percent, also down from the previous week.
Tanjung Pinang City recorded 920 specimens per week, Ternate City (population 243,290) recorded 919 specimens per week, and Bandung Barat Regency recorded 916 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 128 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 153 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Tarakan City, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, and Tanjung Pinang City, with 980, 955, and 920 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
