Based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 104 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, March 8, 2023, shows a national average of 97.27 specimens examined per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Kediri City (987 specimens), Yogyakarta City (924 specimens), Denpasar City (914 specimens), Garut Regency (913 specimens), and Bandar Lampung City (881 specimens).
Kediri City ranks first. With a population of 294,530, it recorded 987 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 0.48 percent, lower than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Yogyakarta City. With a population of 455,540, it examined 924 specimens per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Its positive rate is 0.46 percent, also lower than the previous week's ratio.
Specimen examinations in Denpasar City totaled 914 per week, 913 in Garut Regency, and 881 in Bandar Lampung City.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 83 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 131 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Denpasar City (914 specimens), Bandar Lampung City (881 specimens), and Kutai Kartanegara Regency (711 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
