European Covid-19 statistics this week show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a contrast to the previous situation where the death toll continued to rise. This week, 15 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 20 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Sweden, Greece, Latvia, Slovenia, and Poland. The total number of deaths in these five countries for the week of August 28, 2022, was 293, with a weekly growth rate exceeding 36.11 percent.
Sweden recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 127.27 percent. Worldometer recorded 25 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported 11 deaths.
Greece follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 100 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll was 88. Deaths in Latvia increased by 54.55%, Slovenia recorded 16 deaths (up 45.45%), and deaths in Poland increased by 36.11%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Italy, with 655 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 3.25% compared to the previous week. Following Italy, Germany recorded 600 deaths (down 25.56%), the UK recorded 531 deaths (down 0.19%), Russia recorded 483 deaths (up 13.65%), and France recorded 356 deaths (down 18.54%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 4,192. This accounts for 29.84 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 14,048 deaths. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 4,511 deaths.
