Public Trust in Jokowi's Handling of COVID-19 Decreases

A survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) shows that public trust in President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in handling Covid-19 has decreased. This is evident from the declining trend in respondent confidence since September 2020.

In June 2021, 43% of respondents said they were fairly or very confident that Jokowi could handle the Covid-19 pandemic. This percentage is down from a survey conducted in February 2021, which showed 56.5% of respondents expressing confidence.

Furthermore, distrust in the president has increased since November 2020. At that time, 14.3% of respondents were very or not at all confident in Jokowi's performance in handling the pandemic. Public distrust in Jokowi's ability to handle Covid-19 increased to 15.2% in February 2021 and further increased to 22.6% in June 2021.

The survey was conducted from June 20 to 25, 2021, via telephone. 1,200 randomly selected respondents participated. The sample came from all provinces, proportionally distributed.

The margin of error for the survey is approximately ±2.88% with a 95% confidence level.
