This week, 10 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 15 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Myanmar, Bahrain, Armenia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. The total deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, September 24, 2022, amounted to 161, with a weekly growth exceeding 36.11 percent.
Myanmar recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Asia, with weekly growth reaching 300 percent. Worldometer recorded eight deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's two deaths.
Next is Bahrain, which recorded deaths 100 percent higher than the previous week. The number of deaths in this country was reported as two, higher than the previous week's one death. Armenia recorded 10 deaths (up 42.86%), Malaysia saw a 38.71% increase in deaths, and Hong Kong saw a 36.11% increase.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Asia occurred in Japan, with 894 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 28.25% compared to the previous week. Following Japan, South Korea recorded 344 deaths (down 0%), Taiwan recorded 279 deaths (up 14.34%), the Philippines recorded 248 deaths (up 7.83%), and India recorded 176 deaths (up 7.98%).
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Asia over the past seven days was 2,530. This accounts for 27.59 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 9,170. The number of deaths in Asia decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,899 deaths.
