Togo recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Africa, with weekly growth reaching 100 percent. Worldometer recorded two deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's single death.
Tunisia follows with a weekly growth rate of 0 percent in Covid-19 deaths. The number of deaths reported in the country was three, the same as the previous week.
Rounding out the top five, deaths in Malawi decreased by 0%, Morocco recorded one death (a 50% decrease), and deaths in South Africa decreased by 78.85%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Africa occurred in South Africa with 11 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 78.85% compared to the previous week. Following this, Tunisia reported three deaths (unchanged from the previous week), Togo reported two deaths (a 100% increase), Malawi reported one death (unchanged from the previous week), and Morocco reported one death (a 50% decrease).
Total deaths in Africa over the past seven days were recorded at 18. This accounts for 0.22 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 8,212. The number of deaths in Africa decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 69 deaths.
