The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported a decrease in the Hotel Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) for star-rated hotels in Indonesia in April 2022, falling to 34.23%.
This figure is down 10.92 percentage points from the TPK for star-rated hotels in March 2022, which reached 45.15%.
Compared to the same period the previous year, the TPK for star-rated hotels in April 2022 also fell by 0.4 percentage points.
According to BPS Head Margo Yuwono, this decrease in occupancy is due to the end of the Mandalika MotoGP event in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"This caused a significant decrease in TPK, especially in NTB in April 2022," said Margo in a virtual press conference on Thursday (2/6/2022).
BPS noted that the highest TPK in April 2022 occurred in East Kalimantan at 51.30%. This was followed by DKI Jakarta and Central Kalimantan at 45.83% and 42.64%, respectively.
Meanwhile, NTB recorded the lowest TPK at 15.27% in April 2022.
Similar to the TPK for star-rated hotels, the TPK for non-star-rated hotels also showed a decrease in April 2022 compared to the previous month, falling by 4.66 percentage points to 17.4%.
