The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in West Sumatra is currently in the Mentawai Islands, with 15.18 cases per 100,000 population per week as of Tuesday, August 23, 2022. This figure is four cases higher than the second-highest region.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in the Mentawai Islands does not appear to be improving. This is indicated by the number of cases this week, which is still higher than the previous week's figure of five cases per 100,000 population per week.
Next in second place is Padang Panjang city, recording a weekly confirmation rate of 10.64 cases per 100,000 population. Compared to last week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning there is no visible improvement.
Rounding out the top five, besides the two regions above, are Padang city, Tanah Datar, and Agam, recording weekly confirmations of eight cases, three cases, and 1.79 cases respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Bukittinggi city, Payakumbuh city, Solok city, and Dharmasraya. These areas recorded an average increase of more than 0.73 cases per 100,000 population.
The good news from this province is that two regencies/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 data statistics shows that 182 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to last week, and 204 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmations than the previous week.
Furthermore, 133 regencies/cities in Indonesia currently report no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
