Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, August 31, 2022, shows a national average of 0.68 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (7.02 people), Central Jakarta (6.88 people), Mimika (6.44 people), South Tangerang (4.74 people), and Balikpapan (4.69 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 7.02 people tested per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 12.1 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.88 people per 1,000 people per week were tested. The positive rate is 13.06 percent, also down from the previous week.
Following this, Mimika, with a population of 221,810, recorded 6.44 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week; South Tangerang, 4.74 tests per 1,000 people per week; and Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 4.69 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 111 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 230 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Mimika (6.44 people), Balikpapan (4.69 people), and Badung (4.61 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
