The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) continues to increase the number of hospital beds in Covid-19 referral hospitals during the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 4 in Java and Bali. As a result, the availability of Covid-19 beds has begun to increase in the last week. The increase in availability ranges from 1.3% to 7.5%, specifically across all provinces in Java and Bali.
DKI Jakarta was able to provide 21,478 beds specifically for Covid-19 patients until July 20, 2021. The availability of Covid-19 referral hospital beds in this province increased by 1.5% compared to the previous week. West Java and East Java followed with an additional 19,786 beds and 18,887 beds, respectively. East Java successfully increased bed availability by 7.5% within a week.
Central Java was able to boost the availability of Covid-19 beds by 2.9%. As a result, there are 16,555 beds available to accommodate Covid-19 patients. Banten (4,787), Bali (2,350), and Yogyakarta (1,975) follow closely behind.
The Ministry of Health's spokesperson for Covid-19 vaccination, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, stated that the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in West Java and Central Java has fallen below 80%. The capacity of treatment response has also shifted from limited to moderate levels.
According to data from July 20, 2021, there are still five provinces with a BOR exceeding 80%. These provinces are Yogyakarta (87%), Banten (85%), East Kalimantan (81%), DKI Jakarta (81%), and East Java (80%).
