A report from Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that the number of tourist visits to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) increased again in 2022. The latest data indicates 1.05 million tourist visits to this tourist attraction located in East Jakarta in 2022.
The number of tourist visits to TMII increased by 18.8% compared to the previous year. Throughout 2021, there were 889,990 tourist visits to the attraction.
Overall, tourist visits to TMII have shown a downward trend from 2007 to 2022. The highest number of visits was recorded in 2012, reaching 7.88 million. The lowest number of visits was in 2021, coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, TMII was managed by the family of former President Soeharto since 1977. However, the government took over the tourist attraction on April 1, 2021, and then revitalized it from January to October 2022.
Recently, TMII has been holding various events, including music concerts to celebrate the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.
TMII's CEO, Claudia Ingkiriwang, said that TMII is holding a "One There Land" themed event featuring 12 days of music concerts from December 21, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
"This event will feature dozens of Indonesian musicians, podcasts, and stand-up comedy," said Claudia, as reported by Antara on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
In addition, visitors to TMII can also enjoy various other recreational activities, including visiting the bird park, reptile park, riding the cable car, or having a relaxing picnic in the green open space. There is also a variety of Indonesian cuisine at the Culinary Festival.
During the Christmas and New Year week, TMII's opening hours will be extended from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM WIB. Specifically on New Year's Eve, it will be open until 2:00 AM WIB.
TMII management has implemented a special entrance ticket price of Rp 50,000 per person during this period. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online at www.tamanmini.com to avoid long queues at the entrance.
