Based on national Covid-19 data, 149 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of October 2nd, 2022, shows a national average of 0.51 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week are: South Jakarta (4.86), Central Jakarta (4.71), Balikpapan (3.94), Bau Bau (3.87), and East Jakarta (3.26).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.86 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 6.07 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.71 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 9.64 percent, up from the previous week.
Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, conducted 3.94 tests per 1,000 people per week; Bau Bau conducted 3.87 tests per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta conducted 3.26 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 119 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 162 other regencies/cities reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.94 tests), Bau Bau (3.87 tests), and Badung (2.93 tests).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
