As many as 44.5% of residents in Jakarta, DKI Jakarta have been infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus. This is based on the results of a serological survey conducted by the DKI Jakarta Health Office, the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI) team, the Eijkman Institute, and the CDC Indonesia.
Based on age group, Jakartans aged 30-39 years were the most exposed to the coronavirus, at 49.2%. In the 40-49 age group, 49% of respondents had been infected with the coronavirus.
Furthermore, 47.8% of Jakartans aged 50-59 years had been infected with the coronavirus. As many as 43.1% of Jakartans over 60 years old had also been infected with the virus.
Among Jakartans aged 15-29 years, 41.2% had been infected with the coronavirus. In the 5-14 age group, 40.1% of the capital's residents had been infected with the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the number reached 31.8% in the 1-4 year age group.
Meanwhile, based on region, residents of Jakarta living in slum areas had a higher rate of coronavirus infection, at 48.4%. Only 37.5% of Jakartans in non-slum areas had been infected with the virus.
Furthermore, 62.9% of Jakartans who had been infected with the coronavirus were asymptomatic. Meanwhile, 86.1% of the capital's residents infected with the coronavirus went undetected.
The survey, titled "Prevalence of Positive SARS-CoV-2 Antibodies in DKI Jakarta," was conducted on 4,919 samples from March 15-31, 2021. The survey aimed to measure the immune response to an antigen from a person's blood sample.
The coronavirus antibody detection technique used in this survey was the tetracore-luminex test. All indicators had a relative standard error of 2.3-6.9%, except for the prevalence in the 1-4 year age group (10.8%).
