The top five, starting from the highest, are Sikka, Jayapura, Sukoharjo, Bengkulu Utara, and Kediri City, with 977, 970, 966, 958, and 937 specimens per week, respectively.
Sikka ranks first. With a population of 324,280, the number of specimens examined there is 977 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.16 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Jayapura. The population of this region is 129,450. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, 970 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 1.92 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Sukoharjo recorded 966 specimens per week, Bengkulu Utara 958 specimens per week, and Kediri City 937 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 156 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 162 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Sikka, Jayapura, and Bengkulu Utara, with 977, 970, and 958 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
