Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 149 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. As of Monday, September 19, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 142.47 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest testing rates, in descending order, are Pekanbaru, Malang, Kudus, Malang City, and Tasikmalaya, with weekly testing rates of 972, 956, 923, 920, and 826 people respectively.
Pekanbaru ranks first, with 972 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 6.69 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Malang follows, with 956 people tested per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 8.37 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Kudus, with a population of 893,350, recorded 923 Covid-19 tests per week. Malang City recorded 920 tests per week, and Tasikmalaya recorded 826 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 170 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 181 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some of the regions with the highest number of weekly tests include Pekanbaru (972 people), Bandar Lampung (737 people), and Samarinda (729 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
