Based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 82 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of Tuesday, August 30, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 24.69 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (477.95%), Surakarta City (330.12%), Tana Tidung (307.14%), Supiori (276.19%), and Sukabumi City (269.91%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 477.95 percent. The latest positive rate is 4.29 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Surakarta City. The population in this region is recorded at 519,800. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 330.12 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 4.5 percent, also down compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Tana Tidung recorded 307.14 percent, Supiori recorded 276.19 percent, and Sukabumi City recorded 269.91 percent for the weekly percentage of people tested.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 125 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher weekly percentage of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 245 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of people tested compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of people tested include Balikpapan City, Tana Tidung, and Supiori, with weekly testing percentages of 477.95 percent, 307.14 percent, and 276.19 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
