Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 190 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, July 20, 2022, shows a national average of 244.03 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Bontang City (995 people), Blora (994 people), Subang (994 people), Kutai Timur (993 people), and Sukoharjo (984 people).
Bontang City ranks first. With a population of 185,460, 995 people were tested in the last week. The latest positive rate is 4.22 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Blora. With a population of 866,140, 994 people were tested in the last week. The positive rate is 0.1 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Subang recorded 994 tests per week, Kutai Timur 993, and Sukoharjo 984.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 334 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of tests conducted in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 56 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests in the last week include Bontang City, Kutai Timur, and Manokwari, with 995, 993, and 965 tests respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
