To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, 157 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, September 7, 2022, shows the national average at 10.81 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the total number of people tested in each region, then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five regions with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages are: Simalungun (90.72%), Padang Lawas (82.3%), Mandailing Natal (79.09%), Pangandaran (75.44%), and Lombok Timur (64.18%).
Simalungun ranks first. With a population of 877,710, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 90.72 percent. The latest positive rate is 10.53 percent, which is lower than the previous week.
Next is Padang Lawas. With a population of 305,310, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 82.3 percent. The positive rate is 3.85 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Mandailing Natal recorded a weekly suspect testing percentage of 79.09 percent, Pangandaran 75.44 percent, and Lombok Timur 64.18 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, based on national COVID-19 data, 185 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly suspect testing percentages than the previous week. Meanwhile, 161 regencies/cities recorded lower percentages compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, regions with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages include Simalungun, Padang Lawas, and Mandailing Natal, with percentages of 90.72 percent, 82.3 percent, and 79.09 percent, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
